Who makes mola shoes and bags?

The Ibañez family established the Mola Cooperative several years ago as a means of applying their textile skills to create self-employment.

They recycle the used molas as the base for their handmade shoes, bags and wallets. All mola shoes and boots are leather lined, and have comfy rubber soles. They come in adult sizes 35-42 (European) and from size 20-33 for children. Each pair of shoes and ankle boots is made from one Mola, whilst each knee high boot is made from an entire panel. Kuna women make two molas in unison, one for the back and one for the front of their blouse. The pair is always very similar, but never identical. This means that no two pairs of shoes or any individual boot will be identical to another.
